Ingredients
For the meat sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the spaghetti
- 1 pound spaghetti pasta
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Make the meat sauce: Heat the olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the ground beef and sausage, and cook until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add vegetables: Stir in the onion and garlic, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add tomatoes: Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes, or until thickened.
- Cook spaghetti: Cook the spaghetti pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Combine sauce and pasta: Toss the cooked spaghetti with the meat sauce.
- Serve: Serve the spaghetti bolognese hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
